It's a Nice Day for a White Blazer

Lately, on Pinterest, I've been pinning more looks with one cleverly styled item--the white blazer.

The first time I tried to rock a white blazer, I ended up looking more like a relator at an open house instead of a model off duty. I'm afraid I've been a little ashamed to try the white blazer again, but with all this inspiration lately, I just might have to dig it out from the back of the closet.

Feelin' Peachy

One of my favorite colors is peach, and every spring without fail, beauty gurus and fashionistas start raving about what color? Peach. It shows up every where--the color that everyone forgot just like the warmer weather.

Don't think the peach trend is for you? Think again. The color peach covers a wider spectrum range than you'd think; plus, it's an easy neutral color to add to your wardrobe.

For this first look, I keep things a little bit more rock n roll. The off-the-shoulder shirt can be worn under or over the sheer blouse. And the classic black skinnies give it a Parisian flair. Keeping with the theme, I paired this outfit with boots, a wide brim fedora, and a pigeon claw ring. I also added my favorite accessory as of late: a watch. Keeping with the beauty theme, I thought a nice peach blush would pull everything together.


This look is definitely a little stealing-from-your-preppy-southern-boyfriend. Or so I'd like to think. It started with the peach blazer, but pairing it with a solid color pant would just be a waste of a good blazer. So I paired it with these fun, tropical print pants. I didn't want a solid shirt underneath, but a bit of texture with this lacy tank and multi-layered necklace. I loved pairing everything with these chambray Keds and could definitely imagine this outfit with a nice peach lipstick.

I love the idea of pairing an easy, laid-back sweater with distressed shorts (totally chic!).  Instead of my instinct, which where a pair of gladiator sandals, I decided to mixed it up with a nice leopard print heel--which will look amazing with the peachy-coral nail polish. To keep things summery and easy-going, I decided a nice friendship bracelet would be a girl's best accessory in this case.

Spring 14 Jean Trends

While there's still no spring flowers out around here yet, there are a few new trends popping up daily. The big one I've noticed? Denim. Ripped, patched, rolled, and even tied. Straight, flared, and yep, still boyfriends.

I love jeans and therefore I'm always looking for an amazing new pair. 

Here's a few ways to style your new favorite style.

Ripped:
Every summer they're back... ripped demin. And I love it. It's an easy way to make any outfit look more edgy.

Tied:
The best thing about these jeans is that if you're going for the whole 90s vibe you don't have to keep re-tying your shirt sleeves around your waist. Seriously, that was 90s Carey's least favorite thing (and 00s Carey's never do).

Obviously it would have been super easy to make this a Tie from Clueless sort of outfit. But I didn't want to go extreme 90s--just a little with some updates.

Rolled:
With rolled jeans, it's easy to automatically go the retro route. While I considered it, I wanted to incorporate another new trend: the flower shirt. Of course, I can't just have it too matchy or too girly, so I paired it with a checkered scarf and western-inspired boots (but not too western). What do you think?

Stealing from the Guys: Our Man

Yesterday I finally saw All Is Lost. The cinematography was beautiful, and the movie was intense. But of course I absolutely loved Redford's sailor costume. It was very simple--either a short sleeve or long sleeve navy tshirt with khaki pants--however, it had some bohemian aspects--a gorgeous turquoise ring, thread bracelet, and leather bracelet--that I found very interesting.

Here's the tomboy chic way:

Aside from Redford being Redford (ie: awesome and adorable) and an awesome outfit, All Is Lost was a fantastic movie and while it started a little slow ... the ending was anything but.

Copying Kendra

I'm not going to lie, I love The Girls Next Door, and yes, I'm probably the only person who still whips out her DVDs to re-watch it sporadically. 

While watching a few episodes last week, I realized... DUH! Kendra! Her style has evolved since The Girls Next Door, but she's still a tomboy. While her updated look is very chic, I decided to create a post based off her look from the show. Check it out and maybe it'll inspire your next outfit.

 

 

Since Kendra is from San Diego, I had to give her a Chargers shirt. I picked one from Victoria Secret so it would be a little bit sexier than a regular jersey. Next, is a pair of wide-leg bootcuts. I'm not sure what jeans she actually wears, but I thought these flared ones by Citizens of Humanity were perfect. Kendra often paired her tees and jeans with stilettos--even when she was going out. Usually, her heels would be strappy and have some sort of glitter accent. Kendra doesn't accessorize as much as Holly or Bridgette, but she does always carry a purse. I kept it basic with this Vince Camuto Avery Crossbody. On the show, and even now, Kendra always rocked black eyeliner and a nude, glossy lip. To achieve this, I thought and this nude Aerin gloss would be perfect along with a black kohl eyeliner. And of course, you can't be Kendra without your stunna shades.

 

Last Minute Ways to Celebrate Halloween

Usually, I'm all about Halloween--it's my favorite holiday. But this year, I just haven't really been feeling it (mainly due to fiances).  However, it couldn't be Halloween without some officially Halloween post. Here are some last-minute ideas to get a little festive.
